General program of the Summer Drawing and Painting course
First week: Still lifes (4 lessons)
The goal is to introduce the basic principles of painting. Topics such as light and shadow, proportions, tonal masses, color mixing, brush strokes, etc. will be discussed.
Second week: Study of drapery (3 lessons)
The second week will focus on drapery painting. The student will use the knowledge learned in the first week and will be encouraged to see more and to portray the subject more accurately. We will focus in particular on learning and the study of hot and cold halftones and on the expressive use of the brush.
Third week: sacred composition
This project will teach the student the characteristic traits and the traditional representation of the figure of the chosen “Saint”. The “Saint” chosen at the beginning of the course will be the subject of study during weekly visits to museums and churches. Students will use the knowledge gained in
previous projects to create a more complex painting.
